Melbourne Autumn Day (MAD) ride - 2007. Mountain bike ride around the Wombat State Forest at Woodend. 65km and about 5 hours later I made it.
Need a detailed map of all the shared paths in Melbourne and Geelong? Then have a look at them using the Google Earth KML network link download below. The download will invoke Google Earth and all the trails will be shown. The trails are all based on actual GPS data acquired in 2006 & 2007. The level of detail shown is view based, becoming more detailed as you zoom in. Each trail is illustrated with placemarks that contain descriptions, including photographs (nearly 700) and links to other websites such as Wikipedia and the like. Placemarks are divided into navigation issues, sites of interest and places to eat and can be enabled or disabled using the folder controls in GE. Trails that may be constructed in the future are also included in the "Projected routes" folder. A street map overlay can be also be enabled by using the relevant GE folder control. I would like to present this information in Google Maps and or Bikely, to improve the overall accessibility to the information, but this has shown to be unworkable for this data.
